Nowadays, though, we know that there’s no excuse. Fruits and vegetables are essential ingredients in a healthy diet, providing a plethora of vitamins and antioxidants that keep us living long and happy lives.
But as it turns out, there may be one big reason we didn’t realize…some of those fruits and vegetables are pretty dangerous to our health.
A recent report published by the Environmental Working Group states that these 12 fruits and veggies are incredibly susceptible to harmful pesticides. The chemicals have been linked to hormone problems, cancers, and various other illnesses. So before you eat these foods, definitely give them a good washing.
Here are the fruits and vegetables from “The Dirty Dozen,” ranked from the most contaminated to least.

The roundup, known as “The Clean 15,” features fruits and vegetables that contain either no traces or insignificant traces of pesticides that shouldn’t have any negative effect on your health.
